Ciconilidae stork

A member of the Ciconilidae stork family, the Lesser Adjutant Stork can be found widely across Southeast Asia. Mainly found in freshwater wetlands, feeding on fish, frogs and reptiles compared to the Greater Adjutant Stork who’s a born scavenger and rarely you see them hunt for food. The Greater Adjutant Stork have been pushed to the point of endangerment due to improved standards of garbage disposals in cities. Fun fact, these unclean fellows were once depicted in the logo of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation and was local famous as the “Calcutta Adjutant”
